After removing malware "IE cannot display the web page" - one user only
After removing various malware with Symantec Endpoint Protection 11, MalwareBytes 1.46, and the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool, the user who had the malware (all instances detected were located either in her profile or in system restore points) cannot access any websites with IE 7:"IE cannot display the webpage."Neither the admin account nor another standard account have the problem.I have tried to open IE with "No add-ons" when logged on as the user - same result.I have reset IE settings in the "Advanced" tab of IE (inetcpl.cpl) - same result.Once again, the other two users can access the Internet without a problem. The "problem user" can access the network otherwise - email, mapped drives to server, etc..One option: delete and recreate the user profile in question. But before resorting to that, is there any other option? If I deleted the Internet Explorer components in her profile, would they be recreated (correctly)?System Restore is not an option, as the troubleshooting procedure indicated we should delete them because they might simply bring the malware back. And indeed, malware was detected in several snapshots.1 person got this answerI do too

Thank you. That's exactly what I did.I thought I would install Firefox and see if the user in question could access the Internet with that browser.I imported all the users settings:A message displayed saying, in summary, that Firefox was configured to use a proxy the is refusing connections.I find proxy settings in Firefox and see that the first (and only) proxy is set to 127.0.0.1 (loopback). That won't get us very far, will it?So I uncheck that in Firefox and I can access the Internet OK.I find the equivalent settings in IE and uncheck the proxy checkbox. Now I'm OK!But even though I found the answer through Firefox, I'll give you the credit for the answer.

One suggestion, that upgrade to IE8 , which come with better protection and settings. In IE8 , if website won't display it will give you option to diagnose it and when you done , it will help you to resolve connection problem including proxy automaticly. In IE7 you could do same but you should update and get add-on for that , if you check Windows update, custom, you will see that.
